90 pc work completed for 50th Karbi Youth Festival: EM Richard Tokbi

Diphu, Dec 28: The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council EM and General Secretary for the 50th Karbi Youth Festival (KYF) Reception Committee Richard Tokbi, informed that nearly 90 percent of the preparations for the landmark Golden Jubilee Celebration of the Karbi Youth Festival have been finalized. This update was shared during his visit to Taralangso on the evening of December 28.

Accompanied by the Construction Sub-Committee Convenor, Daniel Bey, Tokbi conducted an inspection of various festival sites, including Parking-1, Parking-2, VIP Parking areas near the museum, and others with the aim is to ensure minimal inconvenience for guests and visitors from outside the region.

During the inspection, attention was given to ‘Recho Artu’ and the lodging site for patrons during the festival. Tokbi assured that all facilities would be fully operational by January 6, 2024.

Expressing his joy, the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Executive Member acknowledged the consent received from India’s President Droupadi Murmu to attend the Golden Jubilee Celebration of the Karbi Youth Festival. Notably, governors and chief ministers from three neighboring states are also expected to join the President in the event.

In an effort to promote environmental sustainability, EM Tokbi announced a prohibition on the use of plastic disposable items in hotels and other dining outlets throughout the 50th KYF. He clarified that alternative options would be available for purchase at wholesale shops designated for food-serving purposes. Additionally, Tokbi informed that traditional and commercial markets have been relocated to a new venue for the 50th KYF.
