Diphu, Dec 29: In a latest development, a dumper truck carrying a substantial quantity of illicit timber was confiscated by Forest Department officials in the Silonijan region inside the hill district of Karbi Anglong, Assam early on Friday morning.
According to officials, the timber were seized from Bornirja Mouzadar village during a search launched immediately on receiving information provided by Forest Guard Birta Timung. Accordingly, the truck with registration number AS09C3424 was found to contain more than 100 KB of timber.
Later, ACF Pranab Das revealed that the market value of the seized timber is estimated to be around one lakh rupees. Emphasizing the department’s commitment to combat timber smuggling, the forest officer warned of increased vigilance and stricter measures in the forthcoming days.
