Goa, Jan 09: In a shocking incident, Suchana Seth, the co-founder and CEO of the artificial intelligence start-up Mindful AI Lab, was arrested in Karnataka’s Chitradurga after allegedly murdering her four-year-old son in Goa. The 39-year-old entrepreneur was apprehended with her son’s body in a bag, and she has been sent to police custody for six days. The shocking crime took place in a rented apartment in north Goa’s Candolim, and the motive remains unclear. However, police suspect the possibility of a strained relationship with her husband as a potential reason behind the heinous act.

Suchana Seth, a resident of Bengaluru, had checked into a hotel in North Goa with her son while her husband was abroad in Indonesia. On Monday, she checked out of the hotel alone and requested a taxi to Bengaluru. The hotel staff noticed the child’s absence and bloodstains in the apartment, prompting them to inform the Goa police. Concerned about the missing child, the police intercepted the taxi in Chitradurga, Karnataka, and discovered the tragic truth. Suchana Seth, who hails from West Bengal, is now under police custody, and the investigation is ongoing.

The Goa police, suspecting foul play, called Ms. Seth for questioning and remanded her in custody for further investigation. Her husband, Venkat Raman, an AI developer, has been asked to return to India. The shocking incident has cast a shadow on Suchana Seth’s professional achievements, as she was recognized among the top “100 Brilliant Women in AI Ethics for 2021.” With a background in data science and a fellowship at Harvard University’s Berkman Klein Centre, the tragic turn of events raises questions about the factors leading to this horrifying act.
