DIPHU, Dec 27: In a significant development, a search at the Lahorijan checkpoint under the Bokajan police station led to the discovery of a cache of items in a Swift Dzire car without a number plate. The car, originating from Ukhrul and en route to Silchar, was intercepted at the checkpoint on Tuesday evening.
According to officials, the foreign country-made pistol and other items were recovered during a search conducted at around 10:40 pm along the Nh-129. The search, conducted by a team comprising CRPF C20 personnel under Assistant Commandant Ravi Gill, the local Dillai police station team led by the OC, and Bokajan SDPO, revealed a 38 mm German-made pistol, two 12-round magazines, 38 mm live rounds, and a substantial amount of cash totaling Rs. 2,67,510.
The individuals arrested in connection with the incident are residents of Cachar district and have been identified as Md. Faruk Ahmed (26 years), son of Jainel Uddin, from Ujan Tarapur, Cachar; Md. Mufiz Uddin, Munna (32 years), son of Jainel Uddin, from Lakhipur; Badur Uddin (20 years), son of Samsun Jamal, from UbanTarapur; Md. Abdul Malik (41 years), son of Rahim Uddin, from Monipur, Pt-II; and Abdul Sahid, son of Nazir Ahmed Lalang. The ongoing investigation will lead to the arrested individuals being produced before the District Judicial Court, as confirmed by the authorities.
