Awareness on proposed East Karbi Anglong Wildlife Sanctuary held

Dokmoka, Dec 19:In a proactive move, the Dokmoka Western Range conducted an awareness program at Chaprasi Basti to enlighten the local communities about the proposed establishment of the East Karbi Anglong Wildlife Sanctuary. The initiative, organized under the guidance of Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) Rajen Rongpi, aimed to disseminate crucial information about the sanctuary, emphasizing regulations against activities such as hunting, fishing, and jhum cultivation. The awareness session covered Chapra Basti, Arnam Lankso, Hidiso, and Borpung.
As part of the program, Western Range Dokmoka Ranger Harlongbi Rongphar, Forest-I Semson Engti, and forest officials under the Western Range Dokmoka extended additional support to the communities. They provided free vaccination services for cattle and piglets, contributing to the health and well-being of the villagers. Additionally, torchlights were distributed to enhance the safety and security of the local residents.
This initiative not only fosters awareness about the proposed wildlife sanctuary but also showcases a holistic approach by addressing the immediate needs of the community, reflecting the commitment of Dokmoka Western Range to both conservation and community welfare.
