Tragedy strikes Iran with 103 dead in Iran bomb explosion

Delhi, Jan 04: In tragic development, Kerman ciity in Iran was hit by two devastating bomb blasts, resulting in the tragic loss of at least 103 lives. The incident occurred as a large gathering had assembled at a cemetery to commemorate the fourth anniversary of the assassination of senior military commander General Qassem Soleimani.

This attack termed as one of the deadliest in the country over the past five decades. Reacting to the news, Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, conveyed, “We are shocked and saddened by the terrible bombings in Kerman City, Iran. At this difficult time, we express our solidarity with the government and people of Iran. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims and with the wounded.”

CNN reported that Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi placed blame on the Israeli government for the explosions. In a televised speech from Tehran, he issued a warning, stating, “I warn the Zionist regime, do not doubt that you will pay a heavy price for this crime and the crimes you have committed.” President Raisi further declared that Israel’s punishment would be “regrettable and severe.”
